Unceremoniously dumped out of the Carling Cup by the side we thrashed 5-0 at home not too long ago. Losing 4-3 on penalties (what else would it have been right?), 3-3 aet, Carlo Ancelotti's gamble to use all 3 substitutes backfired when Kalou hobbled off with an injury and we had to play most of the second half with 10 men. True, he made 8 changes to the side that hammered Arsenal, but it still hurts that we got dumped out like that. Ballack and Kakuta both missed their spot kicks, with Kakuta fluffing the decisive 5th kick. Moscow all over again. Kakuta is only my age, and I don't blame him in the least. But if only Frank was there to take it, he would not have missed...Last year it was Burnley, this year Rovers. The Carling Cup doesn't like us any more it seems.
But who cares? That's one less distraction, and I'd rather take the 3 points from Arsenal rather than lose to them and win this tie. Ask any Chelsea fan, and they'd tell you the PL title wins hands down any day over the Carling Cup.
