Annoyed

Tomorrow, I apparently have 2 meetings to attend:-

1. SASA Meeting at 2-4 pm

2. P.I.N.K. Meeting at 10-12 pm

And when did I find out about them? Less than two hours ago.

Pur-lease people. When are you going to learn that we lesser members need time to make arrangements for transportation? Do you think you can just call meetings at your whim and fancy?

Seriously, I would like to go for them especially since I just read that meetings now count for internship hours, a much needed bonus. Looks like attendance has been very poor and this is a drastic attempt to attract SASA-rians to attend.

But due to the eleventh-hour notice, I have absolutely no transport and no time to reschedule my piano class. So sayonara to both meetings.

Seriously, my fiercest complaint about both these organizations have been their last-minute meeting announcements which I really DETEST. (Hate, would be too strong a word).

All I am asking for is ample notice, and PLEASE STOP SCHEDULING MEETINGS FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE AT WEIRD HOURS LIKE 12-2 PM! Not everyone can drive. Or has drivers or housewife mothers. Please be considerate, and schedule meetings at reasonable hours of the day such as 10-12 pm or 9-10 am. That way, I guarantee more people will show up because transportation via working parents (such as yours truly) will not be a problem.

Last year whenever I scheduled any meetings, I always made sure it was at a reasonable time, albeit also for my own convenience. Why can't people just be more considerate?

Enough ranting, I am 16 years old and on holiday, not a frustrated middle-aged woman.

By the way, Anwar won with a thumping 15ooo+ majority to mark his second coming to Parliament in style. Back to the drawing board for Barisan. They put up a tough fight, but honestly; did they really expect to win at a constituency where it is "pro-Anwar" to the very core? This is truly his home turf and honestly speaking, if he had not won there, then there would have been no hope for him anywhere else. Comments from UMNO leaders were magnanimous and gracious in accepting defeat. I remember a quote that went something like, "You can say anything about Anwar but they (Permatang Pauh residents) will not believe you." Goes to show that the majority did not believe that the sodomy allegations were not politically motivated and that Saiful's swearing on the Quran was politically timed to perfection.

On the issue on the whole public holiday thing, I think Penang CM Lim Guan Eng was fighting fire with fire. The EC scheduled the by-election on a weekday so the State Government declared it a holiday. You got to admire their tactics sometimes. Personally though, I feel the holiday should only have been declared for Permatang Pauh as yes, it probably is unfair to traders and companies who lose revenue due to the unnecessary holiday.

But the main issue is, the people have spoken, and they want change. Specifically, more transparency and fairness, justice and a stop to all this dirty *policticking*. No more dirty tactics, no more corruption.

Will Anwar be able to put a stop to all this and birth a new Malaysia free of these shackles?

He's due to be sworn in today. We shall wait and see what he says when he *stares deep into Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi's eyes during the presentation of Budget 2009* if he makes it in time.

Permatang Pauh

The two madcaps reunited last week: Kim and me. Unfortunately, I'm as un-photogenic as ever.
Today was the by-election that everyone has been waiting for: Permatang Pauh
The long awaited showdown between Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Datuk Seri Omar Arif Shah. I think that's his name. Have to go check.
Will BN be able to stop Anwar's dream of reentering Parliament?
Or will PKR be celebrating a thumping victory over BN tonight leaving the ruling party to lick its wounds?
The whole nation waits with baited breath.
An Anwar victory could possibly herald the dawn of a new era in Malaysian politics (what with the whole plan to take over the federal government by Sept 16 and him being the PM in waiting), while a BN victory would be a hugely significant as it would have managed to wrest a PKR stronghold for the first time in 12 years; and deny Anwar his *second coming*.
Either way, the stakes are high. It's in the hands of God now. And probably the Election Commission to HURRY UP AND COUNT FASTER.

And It's Over!

And so the Beijing Olympics 2008 drew to a conclusion at about 10.00 pm just now. The closing ceremony performances included guest appearances by Jackie Chan, Jacky Cheung, Leona Lewis (the sound system was pretty bad so I couldn't really hear her), David Beckham, Rain and Wang Lee Hom. As before, the performances included thousands of performers dressed in lavish costumes and brilliant fireworks lit up the sky for a good ten minutes at the finale making the Bird's Nest look like a vast, never-ending spectrum of glowing colours. Let's hope they weren't pre-recorded this time!

After 12 barren years, a silver medal has come home. Although our divers, archers, badminton players and cyclists could have done a lot better, we're all still proud that at least we have something to show for this time around.

Here's to looking forward to the 2012 London Olympics!

Sunderland won 2-1 thanks to a late Djibril Cisse header, while Stoke beat Aston Villa 3-2 at the Brittania. The Gunners lost 1-0 at Craven Cottage while Hull continued to defy the critics by earning a 1-1 draw at Blackburn.

Unfortunately, I just read that although we won 1-0 thanks to a Deco free-kick at Wigan 20 minutes ago, Chelsea failed to impress after that stunning demolition of Portsmouth.

Uh-oh, doesn't look good. Post-match reports don't look good either. Oh dear, maybe Chelsea got a little too overconfident after last week. Luis Felipe Scolari, please take this as a wake up call to not rest on your laurels just yet, it's only August.

Tomorrow night: Man Utd vs Pompey

Prediction: A (quite) toothless Man Utd to possibly scrape a draw against a miserable Pompey side low on confidence. Or on the other extreme, a rejuvenated Pompey to fire a few past the Cristiano Ronaldo-less Red Devils. Either way, looks like it's going to be a tough evening for Sir Alex Ferguson.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Went to watch WALL.E with Kim today. Had a lot of fun catching up and gossiping with her! She owes me RM 2, so that gives us an excuse to meet up again sometime :)

The movie was pretty good, looks like Disney and Pixar have served up another gem. WALL.E is a fun family flick for all, as the plot is neither too deep for the kiddies but neither is it too predictable for the adults either. It starts off with WALL.E being the last robot left to clean up the huge mess on planet Earth caused by land pollution and excessive garbage overfilling the land. Probe robot EVE is dropped on Earth to bring back any signs of vegetation, showing that Earth is ready to be lived in once more. WALL.E falls head over heels for EVE, and when EVE is transported back to the Axiom, he bravely follows her. The Axiom is the large spaceship where all the obese humans have been living for 700 years since planet Earth became unbearably polluted. The captain is extremely excited by the discovery of the tiny green plant in the boot, and declares that it is time to return home. However, his manupulative co-pilot (a robot named Auto) rebels and locks up the captain. Hence begins a frantic rush to free the captain and save the plant from falling into the clutches of Auto; who is determined to follow his *instructions* and prevent them from returning to Earth at all costs. The ending is suitably touching, with WALL.E and EVE reuniting and Earth being restored to its former green self. It was also interesting to see what might become of us in the future if this really was the scenario; the humans here are so used to being waited on hand and foot by their robotic counterparts that they are severely obese and have even forgotten how to walk! I almost hate to admit this, but I nearly cried when WALL.E was crushed to bits and *died*. Kim said I would have been mad to cry at a Disney show, so luckily I managed not to! There were plenty of funny and *awww* moments to keep you from getting too bored, and the strong plot and consistent pace of the movie were more than enough to make up for the lack of actual dialogue and conversation! But then again, who said you needed words to tell a good story?

I was happily watching Spurs vs Sunderland before my parents sadly decided to *gatecrash* and reclaim the TV. Luckily Kieran Richardson made it 1-0 to Sunderland at the 55th minute just before they came back. I am actually rooting for the Black Cats eventhough I support Spurs as I feel they fought extremely hard against Liverpool last week and thoroughly deserve a win against a disjointed Spurs side. Sunderland defended well throughout the first half; Nosworthy and Bardsley dealt well with Bentley's superb corner kicks and Bale's dangerous crosses while Andy Reid actually delivered some quality balls in from set play. I held my breath whenever Spurs went forward because Craig Gordon looked a little unsteady today (he actually dropped the ball once, luckily he caught it again!). Gareth Bale and Danny Collins both had superb chances which they both wasted and Malbranque a fantastic strike that hit the far post. Anyway, it could go either way so we shall see. Maybe even as I speak, Spurs may have equalised already lol. Gareth Bale got a yellow card for stupidly going down in order to try to win a penalty in the first half. Poor boy's not having a very good game. But Dimitar Berbatov wasn't even in the stadium let alone the bench! That means he's definitely on his way out. And that leaves Spurs extremely short of firepower, so Juande Ramos definitely needs to buy a new striker at least. Last but not least, surprisingly Craig Gordon managed to pull off the hideous away kit of apple green jersey and grey shorts quite well; he managed to look his usual gorgeous self :)

Tonight: Arsenal vs Fulham

Tomorrow: Chelsea vs Wigan

Prediction: Both to win by at least 2 goals

Ohmigosh, I almost forgot the most important thing today.

PETROL PRICES ARE COMING DOWN!

Since the world crude oil price was about US$ 123 per barrel as of August 22, the government has decided to take advantage of the current drop in price and lower the price to RM 2.50 per litre. Thank God, we do need some relief and something to cheer about these days.

7th Row

Tried to book tickets for Wall.E on Saturday for Kim and me. But you know what? Looks like that stupid GSC will be full to the bursting AGAIN this weekend.

Option 1: 2.00 pm: 5TH ROW!!

Option 2: 2.50 pm: 7th row

Option 3: 12.40 pm: 5TH ROW!!

Option 4: (Out of desperation) 4.15 pm: 5TH ROW as well!!!

I can't believe it!! Is the whole freaking town on a movie marathon this weekend just because it's Mega Sale time???

Oh wait. I just remembered it's school holidays season. No wonder the cinemas are jam packed and the phone bookings FULL eventhough I'm calling three days in advance.

Rats. Looks like every kid in town will be heading to the cinemas to watch that adorable robot with their popcorn and soda in tow.

And cinemas full of kids only means

NOISE!!!

I only remember too well what happened the last time I watched Kung Fu Panda and The Dark Knight in a hall packed full of screaming snotty-nosed brats. Okay, that was a bit harsh, but they simply don't know how to keep quiet! I've already ranted enough on the Kung Fu Panda post, and I suspect I'll be raving and complaining a lot more by Saturday so I'll save it for next time.

I'm beginning to dread Saturday.

Oh, and I had no choice but to take the 7th Row 2.50 pm show.

Finally managed to catch Spurs vs Boro (second half) today. Gareth Bale's shirt is too tight for him unfortunately. And as a Chelsea fan, Dimitar Berbatov should not go to Man Utd because they will be unstoppable if he does. But I have a horrible feeling Spurs are eventually going to cave in and sell him for an astronomical fee of around £25-30 million pounds. The last thing we Blues fans need is the (soon-to-be/possible) Prem's classiest attacking quartet of Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov to derail Chelsea's title hopes this year.

Haute Cuisine

Went for lunch with my mum at LaFite at Shangri-La hotel since my parents had this voucher that offered a complimentary lunch for two. My little bro was supposed to come too, but he had tuition and probably would have starved to death anyway because you need quite an adult palate to enjoy the exotic appetisers.

Appetisers: Unlimited. That's the beauty of the concept, it's buffet style and you can eat as much you like until you die of boredom from eating the same dish three times.

Choice of: Salmon roll, Ahi (?) tuna with spicy mayonnaise, thinly sliced beef with garlic cream, tomato juice/soup, watermelon crumble, duck with asparagus, tomato with feta cheese.

I tried everything except the watermelon crumble and tomato juice. The French have weird tastes. All the stuff had funny-tasting sauces and spices sprinkled on them. Btw, caviar is GROSS. How on earth can it be a delicacy?!

Interlude: Potato and Leek soup. The smell creeped me out.

Main Course: I had the 'Melt-In-The-Mouth' Beef while my mum had 'Citrus Scallops'. The beef was supposedly braised for 48 hours straight in order to achieve maximum tenderness. And you know what? I believe them! It was super tender and tasty, and literally *melted* in the mouth. Since I hate celery, the nice waiter offered to substitute the celeried puree with mashed potato. The beef was served with a generous helping of tasty sauce, tiny French beans and a burnt onion ring on top! Nice touch. However, my mum's scallops came with orzo (a type of Italian pasta that looks like rice) and funny herbs sprinkled all over so she didn't enjoy it much. But I must say the scallops were extremely juicy.

Dessert: Eat from right to left! It consisted of 4 different mini-desserts on a little black tray. Again, the nice waiter agreed to substitute the green-tea cake with the chocolate cup; which consisted of braised banana in warm chocolate served in a tiny white cup and topped of with Oreo sprinklings. Next was a meringue strawberry followed by orange chocolate sticks. Last of all was a sugary-sweet strawberry marshmallow. Followed by a hot cup of capucinno, the day's meal was certainly a fine example of dining in fine French style ala haute cuisine.

PS Sorry there are no photographs! I wanted to bring my cam but I thought it would be very *jakun* to be snapping photographs in the middle of a posh restaurant. But you know what? The lady at the next table was snapping non-stop throughout the meal, Jeez!

Silver

What a horrible ending to the Malaysian dream of an Olympic gold. Lee Chong Wei went down 21-12, 21-8 in a horribly one-sided match where Lin Dan's powerful smashes, perfectly angled drop shots and accurate netplay had Chong Wei scurrying around the court helplessly. It also hopelessly outlined the great gulf in class between the World No. 1 and No. 2 on a night where Chong Wei was extremely rattled by the boisterous (and annoying!) cries of 'Lin Dan, jia you!' coming from the partisan home crowd. Lin Dan looked cool, calm and in complete control of the match as he utterly dominated from start to finish. I was cringing everytime he smashed the shuttle into Chong Wei's half. Poor Chong Wei looked dejected and demoralised, and the same look was reflected on Misbun Sidek's face. I could totally feel his pain. It almost seemed as if he wanted to end the match as quickly as possible and escape from the nightmare on court. Looks like the pressure finally got to him, as he never really got his rhythm going and delivered the sort of play that sent Hyun-Il and Susilo packing. And did Lin Dan have to rub it in his face by collapsing to the ground and screaming in joy after he won? But biased feelings aside, Lin Dan deserved to be crowned Olympic champion as he was clearly the better player. Better luck next time around I guess.

Spurs were beaten 2-1 surprisingly while Fernando Torres managed to put a late goal past Craig Gordon 10 minutes before time at The Stadium of Light. Poor guy, I'm a huge fan of his eversince ironically, the first time I saw him play against Liverpool at The Stadium of Light last year! As for headline-grabbers Hull who beat Fulham 2-1 at the KC, don't get too happy. If I remember correctly, Derby won their opening game against Newcastle at Pride Park too.

With Chelsea leading 3-0 at Stamford Bridge at half -time and Lampsy scoring a penalty kick right on the stroke of half-time, it was game over for Pompey already. Just saw that the final score is 4-0 which sends the Blues straight to the top of the table. Hopefully that's the way it's going to stay this year :).

Chong Wei is in the Final!

By now I am sure, the whole of Malaysia would have been celebrating the fact that World No.2 , our very own Lee Chong Wei has stormed into the 2008 Beijing Olympics singles final by overcoming a tenacious Lee Hyun-Il to set up a dream showdown with China's World No. 1 Lin Dan. Never mind if he wins or loses (but of course we want him to win!); the main thing is that an Olympic badminton medal is coming home to Malaysia at last. Watching that deciding game in which he beat the South Korean 21-14 (or was it 21-13? Can't remember.), I think we have a fairly good chance at the gold. But Lin Dan will want revenge for his defeat in the Thomas Cup, so expect fireworks tomorrow! Incidentally, it will be our first medal of the tournament after our archers and divers failed to impress. I watched them, and they were really dissapointing. Our women divers; in particularly underlined the lack of class compared to the creme de la creme of the business such as China's Guo Jingjing; a truly classy diver. But nonetheless, there's still time to improve so that we can put up a bigger fight at the 2012 London Olympics.

Don't forget, the gold medal clash is at 8.48 pm live on Astro Supersport tomorrow!

August 16 marked the beginning of the new Premier League season; which *kicked off* (pun intended!) with Arsenal vs 2007/2008 Coco-Cola Champions West Bromwich Albion. I watched the kick-off, then off-ed the TV. Ten minutes later, I switched it on and Arsenal were 1-0 up thanks to a superb Samir Nasri goal in the 4th minute. Thinking that Arsenal would be going into full attacking mode, I eagerly tuned into the second half after dinner. But I was dissapointed. It was a horrible affair; hum-drum and decidedly sleep-inducing. Arsenal never really looked like getting a second goal while the midfield was devoid of creativity and inspiration; and lacking grit and muscle eventhough Nasri looked promising. Denilson and Eboue looked like headless chickens running around. And all because maestro Fabregas is out with a hamstring. They were lucky to be playing Albion tonight. Even an under-strength Man Utd would have easily put 4 past them. As a part-time Gunners fan, I sincerely wish Fab a speedy recovery, simply because they're utter rubbish without him.

Second game live (and going on now!) is Tottenham Hotspurs vs Middlesborough at the Riverside. Eventhough I only managed to watch about half an hour (why did my father have to come back and hog the TV???); it was definitely more entertaining than Dullsville at the Emirates. Last I saw, the teams seemed evenly matched eventhough Alfonso Alves and Giovanni dos Santos both had great chances to score. Only sour note was that Gareth Bale did not start. But he's on the subs bench and I'm sure Juande will bring him on sometime later.

Hopefully, I can catch the replay sometime later during the week.

Tomorrow: Sunderland vs Liverpool
Chelsea vs Portsmouth

Prediction: A narrow win for both the Reds and Blues.

A-Level Results

Edexcel Summer GCE A-Levels 2008 Results:-

Chemistry 1: 83/90
Chemistry 2: 75/90

Economics 1: 90/90
Economics 2: 90/90

Core Mathematics 1: 100/100
Core Mathematics 2: 98/100

Must discuss with Mr. Yeap whether to retake Chem 2. It's very close to the borderline mark of 72. Since I'm horrendously weak in 3A (Practical), I must budget for a possible big loss of marks in the practical exam next sem. Two experimental failures consecutively speaks volumes about my laboratory skills.

My Econs results boggles my mind. I didn't even expect to PASS Econs 2, let alone get this kind of results. I was already mentally prepared to retake Chem 2 and Econs 2 next sem actually. The Econs 2 marks are a little suspect I must admit...I distinctly remember that I forgot the definition of 'market failure' and that I did not finish a 4 mark question! This is probably the adjusted mark, where the perfect score was pushed upwards because the worldwide Econs results were not very good.

Thanks much Li-Wei, for registering on my behalf on the Edexcel website! I guess you're right; I am lucky your Internet is working better than mine! Without you, I wouldn't even be able to open my results. Pooh (if you're reading this, which I seriously doubt it), cheer up! It's not the end of the world, you'll be able to retake the papers next sem. We'll go and see Wall.E one of these days and cheer you up kay? :)

And, I have just found out that

FRANK HAS SIGNED A NEW 5 YEAR CONTRACT WITH CHELSEA!!

Wow. After months of speculation that he was going to join Inter, it's great news that Frank will be Blue for life.

Thank God. Even for the sake of watching him, I was so not going to watch that horrible Serie A simply because the colours are too drab.

On top of that, Gareth Bale has signed a new contract with Spurs keeping him at White Hart Lane until 2012. That means Sir Alex Ferguson won't be able to poach him for a long, LONG time.

Sigh. Good times.

8 minutes past 8pm 08.08.08

Spectacular. What else can I say? Zhang Yimou created a visual feast for the world to remember. Brilliantly condensing a rich 2000 year history into a 3 hour episode, this is one opening ceremony that will be remembered for years.
Unfortunately, my stupid Astro decoder was not updated so eventhough it was 8.15 pm already, I was pushing the 'R' button like mad but nothing was happening! Luckily my father called the Astro people and our decoder was soon alright! But we already missed the start of the ceremony, and managed to watch starting from the tiles thingy. Bravo to Beijing for putting up such a masterpiece, it was grand, dazzlingly colourful and classy to the extreme. I, for one, will be looking forward to the closing ceremony.
Tomorrow:-
FA Community Shield: Man Utd vs Portsmouth
Tough to say, since Man Utd are missing 9 of their first team players most notably Rooney, Hargreaves, and Ronaldo. Portsmouth are a good side, but expect United to nick it by a goal or on penalties.

Holidays Coming!!

At last, all that worrying and (trying) to study for that Accounts exam is OVER!!

But boy, was it ever HORRIBLE. For the first question, the incomplete records question was horrendously difficult!! Mr. Francis cruelly set a question that had all the different types of adjustments such as accrued, prepaid and depreciation into a horrible mess that would not balance. I was horrified to see that so much time had passed already, just from doing the first question! When I looked at my watch, I was shocked to see that about 40 minutes had passed, just from doing that stupid P & L and Balance Sheet. And the worst part was, I was short of £6030 on the Assets side! Curses. In a *record* time of about an hour, I blazed through the next three questions (Stock Valuation, Control Accounts and Depreciation) without really caring whether it was right or wrong; but rather with the main objective to finish the paper. I finished with a few minutes to spare, but without enough time to properly check my Control a/c and Depreciation a/c. And on top of that, I blew the theory part because I forgot what Perpetual and Periodic Inventory meant, I only studied LIFO and FIFO. Grrr....and we spent all our time memorizing the uses of control a/cs and double entry system for nothing!

Apart from that nightmarish Accounting episode (all Accounting disasters seem to involve depreciation!), today's Chem lesson was very interesting :). Being the first of Mr. Yeap's classes to start Chapter 4.4 Acid-Base Equilibria (since majority of my classmates had not finished the Past Year Questions!), we had a really lively and fascinating time learning how to calculate pH (that's potenz hidrogen to the uniniated!) and about the pondan characteristics of water, which can act as both an acid or a base; which leads to its self-ionisation. What a welcome change from that suffocating crap about Kc and Kp which still seems very hazy to me...Looks like I have to go back and revise before the mock after the holidays! Tomorrow's experiment is recrystallisation...sounds interesting! :)

To heap more misery on my holiday prospects, it looks like I will have my time occupied trying to grasp a little of Unit 3 Economics, Stats Chapters 1-4 and Chem Units 4.1-4.3 in order to PASS the mocks after the hols. I don't think I need a forecast this year since Aussie applications are next year, but it wouldn't be very nice if I got a C or D on the papers.

And shock, horror! Exam results will be out NEXT WEEK! On the 14th to be precise, exactly a WEEK from now! I thought it was the 21st...it appears I was wrong. That gives me only 24 X 7 = 168 hours to mentally prepare myself f0r the horrible reality that I will probably be resitting my Chem Units 1/2 (or possibly both) and Economics Unit 2 (please God, not Unit 1 as well!). Oh God, I need a miracle, and I need it NOW.

Oh, and eventhough you're not reading this Chee Ler, thanks a MILLION for walking me back to Wisma HELP (eventhough you complained you were getting all *humid*) since I was umbrella-less and it was raining cats and dogs! I would have been totally soaked if you hadn't appeared at that very moment! It was hilarious hearing those squeals of envy from Wan Joo, Li Wei and Tasha who had to brave the rain haha. This serves as a lesson to bring my umbrella in future. A WORKING umbrella.

Anwar was tried in court today on that sodomy charge. At 6 something, my mum said he had been let out on bail, so it looks as if he will be able to contest in Permatang Pauh on Aug 16. I shall await further developments in tomorrow's Star.

Falling Star

Verse I:

When I spy a falling star
Close my eyes tight, and make a wish
Carrying my dreams and hopes so far
A true love's kiss, when I'm in your arms
Someday I know it will happen
Just keep on hoping all I can
And put my faith in the stars.

Verse II:

When I wish upon a dream
Things aren't so hopeless as they seem
After the dark, will follow the light
For every pain suffered will be joy
I just say that I believe in
A wish upon a falling star
And someone will answer my prayer.

Chorus:-

I know the falling star
Will bring you here somehow
Find you wherever you are
Light up your pathway
No matter how dark it may
Seem when you're coming to me.
We'll be together
Someday in forever if
We wish on the falling star.

Verse III:

When I see a comet's glow
It lifts me up, when I'm feeling low
Helps me to see, there's still sparkle in life
On those dark days, when I'm missing you
Someday I know you will find me
Just keep on looking till I'm there
And put your faith in the stars.

Verse IV:

When you wish upon a dream
Thing's aren't so hopeless as they seem
After the dark, will follow the light
For all the pain suffered will be joy
If you just say you believe in
A wish upon a falling star
Then someone will answer your prayer.

Repeat chorus 2x

(Piano solo)

Repeat chorus

Words without music isn't very nice, so once I've recorded the music I'll post it up.

It's been a busy Saturday so far. In the afternoon, I tried to finish up Mr. Francis's homework, but unfortunately I couldn't find my old copy of Jan 2005 Q4 so I'll have to wait for Carynn to bring it on Monday so that I can *ahem* refer to it. In the evening, I played tennis for the second time this week, so as the hour wore one; I kind of lost patience and the angle of my serve deviated more and more off the vertical.

At night, we went to my uncle's house to see my new baby cousins. Sooo adorable! When my uncle sends me the pics I'll post one or two up. Winston I regret, does not seem to like me much but Catherine took to me almost immediately. It wasn't all happy baby bonding at once, but after letting her play with my handbag (she seemed to be fascinated by the colourful bags patterned on it) she allowed me to hold her for about half and hour.

Tomorrow will probably be devoted to revising and polishing my sucky accounting skills in order to *pass* Mr. Francis's test. I'm so lucky there's only Accounts next week, my poor classmates have Bio Unit 3. Thank God Econs is after the August hols.

I am also more than happy to report that my initial irritation, annoyance and prejudice with Mr. Francis (I absolutely refuse to call him by his first name only, it's against my principles and down right weird. I think I'm the only one in the class still calling him "Sir".) is gradually wearing off, but I still get this mixture of sadness and anger whenever I flip through my old Accounting notes. By now, you will probably be saying, "It's been 3 weeks already, get over it!" but I just can't stop worrying! It doesn't help one bit that a LARGE majority of the World Award achievers are from Mr. Awang's class, and none from Mr. Francis's. Not that I'm aiming for one, but just that it speaks volumes about Mr. Awang's credentials. If you're reading this Carynn, I know you're still prejudiced about him and I agree with you, but we'll just have to live with it. He can be a little patronising, and his scribbling on the whiteboard is very unproffessional, but I'm sure he means well. Even if we had gone to see Ms. Michelle, I doubt it would have made an iota of a difference.

Also found out that my Uncle Jin went to see the Chelsea match, with Yee Po as well! Frank didn't score (that wretched Anelka and A. Cole did) so I'm not THAT dissapointed...The score-line was only 2-0, but that doesn't mean our sucky Malaysian XI is better than say, Derby whom they beat 6-0 at Pride Park (and Frank scored his first League hat-trick!). They're just giving face to the hosts..according to my uncles and father.

(Eventhough you're not reading this), many thanks to Po for lending me one of my new all-time fav books, V for Vendetta. My "V" vocabulary has increased tenfold thanks to you. Hard to believe that you and of all people, Ka Heng read chic lit though.
