Misled and Misinformed

9.00 am: Alarm clock rings. Time to go to college to open up the yearbook booth.

10.15 am: Reach college and run to the library. Since the email was sent so late, wonder if shift partner Shao Nian is going to turn up.

10.30 am: Look around and see that worse fear has materialised: Shao Nian is not there. Have to liase ALONE with DSA supervisor, who scolded me the last time for not calling him "Sir" and for saying "Yea" instead of "Yes". Discover to horror that meeting room has not been booked, hence booth cannot be set up. Profess innocence and stammer something to DSA supervisor about merely following instructions from the ed board, and inch towards the door as quickly as possible.

10.40 am: Trudge towards second habitat, the library. Relieved to see that it is not full (yet). Take down Chemistry book and begin reading for next term instead of wasting time sleeping.

11.00 am: Realise to horror that have been reading A2 Unit 5 book. No wonder there are so many alien words on the page. Take down Unit 4 book instead.

11.30 am: Library starts to fill up and become usual state of chaos and noise again. Manage to filch a copy of the Euro 2008 pull-out from an empty table.

12.00 am: Go to the back to check if there is a free computer. Eventhough have written name down since 11.30 am, no one budges. Silently curse inconsiderate people and lazy librarians.

12.10 am: Still no one. Finish skimming through Unit 4 and read new book, Sixty Lights instead.

12. 20 am: Still NOTHING.

12.30 am: Grab bite at Rotiman. Bread dough has become harder and filling is almost non existent. Probably due to recent fuel hike.

12.40 am: Write down name for 1.00 pm. Told by librarian to be patient.

1.00 pm: Am beginning to lose patience (again).

1.15 pm: Am ready to go marching back to the librarian when I see finally, a computer has been vacated. Lady Luck has smiled on me at LAST.

What a fantastic way to spend my day. I wasted 4 hours in the library waiting for my SASA photo shoot at 2. And after that, I had to wait again until 3.15 pm to go home. Way to go. At least I got a welcome email saying that the booth is to be suspended and we don't have to go sell any more yearbooks, YIPPEE! And after 8 months, I finally asked Mr. Yap for my SASA certificate. Not surprisingly, he couldn't find it but hopefully; he said, he would have found it by the time term starts. *Phew*. He promised he would have it ready by the time I graduated anyway.

And congrats to Tuncay & co. for beating Czech Rep in a dramatic 3-2 comeback win and joining Portugal in the last eight.

Tonight: Croatia vs Poland
Austria vs Germany

Prediction: Croatia and Germany to both win 2-0

On a different note.....

Accepting and Being Proud of Yourself is....
  • Believing in yourself, and accepting YOU for who YOU are
  • Being able to give thanks to God for making you the way you are
  • Knowing and accepting that you (or anybody else) are not perfect
  • Accepting that you have flaws
  • Knowing that God doesn't make junk!
  • Accepting it's okay not to be Miss or Mr. Body Beautiful
  • Not hating yourself if you can't play Chopin without stumbling at least once on the piano or came second in the track meet.
  • Realising that you don't have to care what everyone says and thinks about you all the time
  • Accepting that it's okay to make mistakes along the way, because we have to stumble and fall, before we can walk, and then run.
  • Accepting that not everyone is a Jack of All Trades, and Master of All.
  • To stop thinking people will reject you because of a few idiosyncrasies.
  • Realising that as long as you have your friends and family, you'll get through any storm!
  • Being able to look at the mirror and be proud of your reflection
  • Stop blaming yourself if things don't turn out the way they're supposed to
  • When you can look at others and not be jealous at the things they have
  • Knowing that nobody is too good for you and if they put you down, it's up to you to put them back into their rightful place! The world is your oyster.
  • When you stop thinking that you're dumber than everyone else
