- Planned takeover of government did not materialise. Anwar says it has been delayed, but will happen in near future. He assures everyone that they already has enough MPs to cross over, and even wrote a letter to the PM asking for a meeting with him personally in order to ensure a smooth transition of power. PM refuses and challenged Anwar to show him the list of MPs. Anwar declines saying that he does not want them to be harassed or endangered.
- Dow-Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) crashes 500 points due to Lehman Brothers filing protection for bankruptcy as the sub-prime mortgage crisis deepens. This is the lowest the Dow has sunk to since 9/11. Bank of America takes over Merril Lynch & Co. while AIG shares plummet. All over the world, markets dip as there are ripple effects from the stock market in America crashing.
- De facto Law Minister Zaid Ibrahim resigns citing his unhappiness that many of his proposals for reforms of the judiciary have not garnered support and in reaction to the injustice of the detention of Raja Petra Kamaruddin and Teresa Kok under the ISA. PM advises him to take leave for a fortnight and pleads with him to reconsider.
- Aston Villa beats Tottenham 2-1 at WHL leaving them bottom of the table and with their worst start in 34 years.

- Federal Reserve bails out AIG by covering them with over $85 bil of taxpayers money which AIG promises will be repaid through the sales of its assets. Barclays PLC from England are in talks to take over Lehman Brothers.
- Zaid Ibrahim stays firm with his decision to resign. PM has passed on post of Finance Minister to DPM.
- Chelsea thrash Bordeaux 4-0 with Frankie scoring a header while Liverpool beat Marseille 2-1 away.
- Relief: John Terry's red card has been overturned and he will face the crunch match against Man Utd at Stamford Bridge.
- Drank my first mocha at San Francisco Coffee today as it is 50% off on Mondays and Wednesdays for students. Cheers to Pik Yen for kindly lending me her student ID since I didn't bring mine. Pity the coffee sucked and the cream made me feel sick. But many thanks to Brian for finishing up. XD
